The Special Education department provides scaffold and services for students with disabilities to accelerate learning within the inclusive general education environment. Special education teachers and speech/language therapists collaborate with occupational therapists, physical therapists, other specialists, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers to develop plans with data-driven goals that support a student’s access, involvement, and progress within the general education curriculum or age-appropriate activities. They also provide resources to families to help them understand their child’s needs, equipping them with the tools necessary to support their child’s educational, social, emotional, and functional progress, and coaching for school staff around the implementation of accommodations and best practices related to supporting students with disabilities. Please see the WI Department of Instruction Special Education page, the Dyslexia Guidebook, or the OCR Section 504 Protecting Student with Disabilities for more information.
If you have concerns about your child's development or suspect your child has a disability, please contact Ann Schnyder, Director of Special Education and Pupil Services.
