
👨🍳 What’s Cookin' in the Foods Lab?
The Food, Family, and Society class recently wrapped up its exciting "Perfect Food Unit!"
🍜 In this fun project, students teamed up to select what they believe is the ultimate food. Each group crafted a delicious meal and then created insightful presentations for Mrs. Dubner, explaining why their chosen dish is simply perfect. Students showcased a variety of delicious options including tasty tacos, crispy chicken tenders, yogurt bowls, tater tot casserole, cheesy pizza, creamy tortellini basil alfredo and more.
Everyone did an exceptional job, showcasing their culinary skills and creativity as they continue to grow into fantastic cooks!





📖 Eight talented students from Berlin High School will be featured in the April edition of the East Central Conference's literary magazine, Perspectives!
✍️ The creative works of Aidan Pierstorff, Arianna McCormick, Emelia Beulen, Aleea Lichtenberg, Taylor Van Ornum, Tasi Ana Sanchez, Ewan Steffen, and Ella Spitler will proudly represent our school.
These exceptional writers will receive their copies of the magazine during a special luncheon held on Wednesday, April 9, in honor of all the all-conference writers from the East Central Conference. The banquet will take place at Mastricola's on Broadway in Berlin.
👏 A big congratulations and well done to all!

🥕 Last week, Chef Simmers from MPTC visited our Food Service class to teach students knife sharpening techniques! He also delivered an excellent presentation on how to cut vegetables evenly, ensuring that all slices are the same size. Thank you for your visit, Chef!

👨🏭 Career Exploration Unit
👩🏫 Mrs. Clark's Consumer Math class is currently engaged in a career exploration unit designed to help students prepare for their future career paths! The presenters invited to the class are aligned with the students' interests in various careers. Mrs. Clark emphasizes a diverse range of careers that require different levels of education, including degrees, certificates, apprenticeships, or entry-level positions that do not necessitate post-secondary education.
👨⚕️ Representatives from UA Local 400, ThedaCare, FVTC Public Safety, 4imprint, and several other organizations have visited or will be visiting the class to deliver exceptional presentations. We sincerely thank all the presenters for dedicating their valuable time to share their insights with our students. Your experiences play a crucial role in guiding them as they shape their bright futures and make informed career choices!

🎉 The Berlin High School VEX Robotics team, known as "Birthday Boy," celebrated another victory by becoming tournament champions on Sunday, March 9th, at a State Scrimmage held in Appleton. This exciting tournament featured 14 teams preparing for state competition.
🥇 Team members James Paskey and Tom Schumacher emerged as the top contenders, securing the 1st place ranking after the qualifying matches. They selected "Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em" from Neenah High School to join them as their alliance. Also pictured is the 2nd place alliance of VHS Excelsior Valley Home Schoolers and a VEX-U college level team.
🤖 The BHS Robotics team is set to compete in the State Tournament in Green Bay this Saturday, March 15th! Wishing the Berlin VEX Robotics team, "Birthday Boy" the best of luck!

🧑🍳 What's cookin' in the foods lab?
🐔 This week, we kicked off our Multicultural/Ethnic Food unit with a bang! Our lab groups made delicious dishes like Indian Butter Chicken, Schnitzel, Pierogies, Pollo Asado with homemade tortillas, Chicken Quesadillas, and Orange Chicken. Each dish was a hit!
🌎 Next week, students will share their culinary skills by presenting on food from a culture of their choice, exploring cuisines from around the world including Native American, African, Indian, German, French, and more!
🍓 Our Practical Living Class also joined in the fun by whipping up tasty fruit muffins today.

🎉 Announcement of Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
🎓 We are proud to announce the distinguished students of the Class of 2025. Aaron Bartol has been named the Valedictorian, recognizing his exceptional academic achievements and leadership qualities. In addition, Andrew Rozek has earned the title of Salutatorian, showcasing his impressive dedication and commitment to excellence. Congratulations to both students for their outstanding accomplishments! We are beyond proud of you!


🎤 Yesterday, the Berlin High School Concert Choir took part in the Ripon College Choral Festival, joining 200 high school singers from 12 different schools across the state! The students spent the day learning four songs, which they later performed in a concert that afternoon.
🎵 During the festival, they had the unique opportunity to work with collegiate singers, gaining valuable insights into choral singing within such a large group. Additionally, Ms. Lane participated by playing percussion on one of the pieces alongside her former college classmates!
🎶 Overall, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ripon College and Dr. Paul Thompson for organizing this wonderful event, and we look forward to continued collaboration in the future.

🎶 This past weekend's Solo & Ensemble Festival at Berlin High School was truly remarkable! Students from both the high school and middle school showcased their exceptional talents and hard work. Each performance was outstanding, reflecting the dedication of our young musicians.
🎼 The BHS music department is proud to announce that 21 events will advance to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the end of April! Additionally, two students from BMS will also be representing us at the State level, Sarah Majeske and Cora Sawallish!
🎵 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff, parents, and community volunteers whose support was instrumental in making the festival a success. Your efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved!

Food service students had the opportunity to create and torch their own crème brûlée as part of their unit on eggs! 🔥🥚
🍳 They prepared a variety of dishes, including quiche, soufflé, and crepes. The students also demonstrated their egg-cooking skills by successfully making hard-cooked, over-easy, sunny-side-up, poached, and scrambled eggs. Great job, class!





🍲 We smell delicious soup!
👩🍳 Recently, in Mrs. Daubner's Food for Living Classes, students recently made a tasty dish called Minestrone (Italian Vegetable Soup)! They discovered that this meal is not only delicious but also very healthy and budget-friendly to prepare.
🔪 This unit focused on safety and sanitation, and the lab was a great opportunity for students to practice important skills like knife safety and cutting techniques. Everyone did an amazing job, staying safe while cooking, and the soup turned out delicious!
