This week the Symphonic Wind Ensemble of the Berlin High School, under the baton of their teacher, Ben Ruetten, performed their final concert for the school year. It was a fantastic concert, displaying the talents of our BHS student musicians as well as a few adult guest performers. It was a musical night to remember.

This week the annual Senior Awards Night for the Berlin High School 2025 graduates was held. Thanks to the generous donations of countless supporters of our BHS students, our new graduates will head off to post secondary educational opportunities with the financial support and encouragement needed to reach their goals.

The Berlin Middle School 7th graders have been working on preparing and delivering public speeches with the topic of identifying and learning about the GOAT or Greatest of All Times individuals in history who have made a great impact. This week the top 7th graders gave their GOAT speeches in front of an enthusiastic audience. Great job, students!

🍎 Throughout your years at BASD, what is one of your favorite memories? Reading and writing are my passions, so my favorite memories are events that promoted literacy. Helping to plan and implement family literacy nights, Young Writers Camp, Poetry Live, literacy picnics, and a student publishing center were highlights of my career.
🍏 What are you going to miss the most? I will miss the excitement of kids making connections or discovering something new. I'll also miss collaborating with amazing colleagues who work so hard every day to help kids learn and grow.
❤️ What are your retirement plans? My retirement plans are to read more books, finish some house projects, stay active in our public library, and be open to whatever adventures come next!

We express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Denise Niehans for her outstanding 31 years of dedicated service at the Berlin Area School District!
Your compassionate nature has positively influenced every student you have mentored. We wish you a future filled with joy and happiness!
🍎 Throughout your years at BASD, what is one of your favorite memories?
One of my favorite memories of BASD was when our class performed a whole school play called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We performed the play with Mrs. Duffy's class and Mr. Wagner's class. It was a blast! We would have rehearsals over our lunchtime on the stage. Another favorite memory I have was having extended kickball games at Washington and Clay Lamberton in my early years of teaching. My final favorite memory of BASD was being selected to go to Science World with Mr. Tincher.
🍏 What are you going to miss the most?
I am going to miss all of the back to school excitement at the beginning of the year. I will also miss seeing all of my friends and colleagues on a daily basis.
❤️ What are your retirement plans?
In retirement, I plan on spending time with our granddaughter, golfing, traveling, gardening, and teaching our dogs new tricks.
