Mr. Bell’s AP Physics class recently traded the classroom for the ice during their first-ever curling field trip at the Appleton Curling Club. The experience gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore the real-world physics behind the sport—bringing concepts like force, friction, and momentum to life.

Students learned the basics of curling and quickly applied their scientific knowledge as they slid stones down the ice and analyzed how small changes could impact motion and direction. Seeing physics in action made the lesson both memorable and fun.

The trip even sparked a greater interest beyond the rink, with many students finding themselves watching curling events during the Winter Olympic Games. Safe to say, AP Physics students returned to BHS with a new appreciation for the sport—and a deeper understanding of how physics plays out in the real world.
