On Friday, January 30, the Wordsmiths hosted their 11th Annual Poetry Slam, bringing together students, staff, and community members for an evening of creativity and powerful self-expression. The event showcased the talent and courage of six local poets who took the stage to share original works.
Five of the poets were Berlin High School students: Taylor Van Ornum, Jack Gerber, Ella Spitler, Meradeth Reinsbach, and Tasi Ana Sanchez. Each performer captivated the audience with unique voices, thoughtful themes, and passionate delivery.
Congratulations to Tasi Ana Sanchez, who earned first place, and Ella Spitler, who finished as runner-up. Both poets received trophies, and their names will be proudly added to the Poetry Slam winners’ plaque.
