Berlin High School is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the First Team "Safe Sports School" designation from the National Athletic Trainers' Association for the fourth consecutive year. This prestigious honor reflects the school's commitment to establishing a robust athletic health care system.

Key components of this system include mandatory physical exams prior to participation, the assurance of safe practice areas, and the maintenance of athletic equipment in excellent condition. The school has also designated a specific area for injury assessment and treatment, implemented strategies to prevent injuries, and developed comprehensive emergency plans for all athletic venues. Furthermore, education for athletes and parents regarding the benefits and risks associated with sports is a priority.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Melissa (MJ) Johnston, LAT, FMT, ITAT, our dedicated Athletic Trainer from ThedaCare Medical Center. Her countless hours of commitment to the safety of our student athletes are invaluable. Additionally, we appreciate the funding for this award, generously provided by ThedaCare Orthopedics.

A sincere thank you to the National Athletic Trainers' Association for this esteemed recognition; we are truly honored!
