Educational Options
The Berlin Area School District (BASD) is dedicated to providing multiple opportunities for our students in many areas. We are striving to create an environment of success where our students are prepared for both college and career. Per the 2015-2017 adopted state budget (2015 Act 55), the following notices must be provided to parents and guardians:
Academic Standards: BASD is dedicated to ensuring a rigorous and deep curriculum that students can apply to many different contexts. As a district, we follow the Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) guidelines in terms of the standards we follow. School/District Accountability: Per the State, accountability report cards will not be created for 2014-15, but assessment results will be posted in Public WISEDash. Results from the Forward Exam, ACT Suite, and DLM (science and social studies) will all be reported. The most recent school report card showed all BASD schools met expectations Wisconsin District and School Performance Reports.
Educational Options: The BASD (Clay Lamberton Elementary, Berlin Middle School, Berlin High School) has multiple educational options to meet the diverse needs and interests of its students. In addition to the traditional, high-quality education offered within our classrooms, Berlin also provides the following options:
CAPP courses through UW-Oshkosh (7 CAPP course options)
Transcripted courses through MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) (21 technical college course offerings)
Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses including Business Education (Administration, Business, IT/Networking), Family and Consumer Education (Food Service, Early Childhood Education, Design), Technology Education (Construction & Architecture, Graphic Design, Metals/Manufacturing, Engines), Agriculture (Animal Science, Food Science, Agriculture Engines)
Other: Open enrollment and part-time enrollment for homeschooled students
Special Education Voucher Program:
Notice of Special Needs Voucher Program: Per 15.7915 of Wisconsin State Statute, the Berlin Area School District is required to annually notify families of students with disabilities of the Special Needs Voucher Program available to children who reside in the school district. This program was created under Wisconsin ACT 55 and began with the 2016-17 school year.
