More Information (Directions) SHORT STORY CONTEST Fall 2019 What: Fictional short story writing competition Sponsor: Wordsmiths of Berlin, BHS writers’ club Prizes: $30 - First place $20 - Second place $10 - Third place Top three stories will be posted on the school website. Entry Fee: No Entry Fee How:Stories are to be shared electronically as a Google Doc to one of the submissions managers, either Mr. Reise, at or Mr. C Willhite at . A return email will be sent to confirm receipt of the document. No changes are allowed after submission. Once confirmation of receipt has been received, the entrant is officially entered so long as the submitted story meets the contest rules. Judges: Judging of stories will be done by a panel of three independent faculty judges. When: Submissions will be accepted for 3 school weeks beginning Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 25. Who: This contest is open to any student enrolled in the Berlin High School. MAXIMUM LENGTH: 2000 words (Not including the title) Contest Guidelines: Short stories must be fiction and must be the contestant’s own, original work not previously published or turned in as a class assignment. Stories must be no longer than 2000 words long (not including the title). Please DO include a title with your story. Fictional genre is open. Each contestant is allowed only one short story entry for the contest. Please avoid profanity or graphic sexual content. Judges have the right to disqualify entries promoting bigotry or material otherwise deemed lacking in literary merit.
