Language Arts Courses focus on five main Power Standards in each grade level and build in complexity each year. Each ELA course utilizes the Workshop Model to deliver Units of Study for Reading and Writing.  Language Arts provides an opportunity for students to grow in the skills necessary to be successful learners and communicators. By the end of middle school, students grow in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These skills empower students to not only understand ideas that may be different than their own, but also allows students to create, develop, and share their own original ideas to make the world a better place. Power Standards for ELA Courses include the following:

  • Comprehension of Literature
  • Comprehension of Informational Text
  • Writing
  • Speaking and Listening
  • Language, Vocabulary, Conventions
