Principal's Welcome

Lynn Mork, HS Principal

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I hope you’re having a wonderful summer and that it has been filled with great moments and memories. I want to extend a warm welcome to the incoming 9th graders, the class of 2022, as well as welcome back our upperclassmen. I also look forward to celebrating the graduation of the class of 2019.

Our commitment at Berlin High School is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become good thinkers, information processors, communicators, collaborators, self-managers, and inspired learners who are prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century. Equally as important, our goal is for our students to become good citizens that are respectful, gracious, appreciative and kind. Berlin continues helping students make informed decisions about course choices and extracurricular demands. We want students to not only challenge themselves academically, but we want them to find their passion and spend time in activities that bring joy and a sense of satisfaction.

As I think about the upcoming school year, I’m very excited about this next chapter we are about to write. We will continue to enhance our culture of continuous improvement.  We certainly accomplished a great deal and made some significant changes and are continuing to improve the education provided for our students. This year, teachers and principals will continue refining “Grading for Learning” and aligning our instruction to standards with our curriculum. Our next step in this process is to work on how to assess the learning of our students and share that information with the parents. We have an amazing staff and I am grateful for their commitment, courage, and care that they display in so many different ways. I am honored to work with each of them.

Our number one goal is to improve student learning. So regardless of where our students begin the year, we want to help them advance their critical thinking, knowledge, skills, and ability to problem solve. If at any time you have a question about what is occurring in your student’s class, please contact your student’s teacher.

Our custodians and maintenance staff have done an excellent job in cleaning and preparing the building and grounds for the return of students. Our doors are always open. Stop in and say hello to a teacher, a cook, a custodian, or a member of our office staff - they are all here to make our school a positive learning environment for your child.
